boys & blue/girls & pink

I was sitting in class on Thursday minding my own business, kind of spacing out a bit & staring at the massive flakes of snow that were falling down. Our LGBTQ class was about 15 minutes through when in walks one of our two male students. I'm
glad that there are males in that class otherwise it would be just another women's studies class. The interesting thing about this guy was the fact that he was wearing pretty much neutral clothing colors, white shoes and then hot pink shoe laces. Yes I said hot pink shoe laces. I was quite intrigued by this especially with the average girls wear pink and boys wear blue stereotypes. I mean come on - how are babies separated? There is the blue "It's a boy sign" and vice versa with the girl. What is the reasoning for this though? I personally think it is quite attractive when guys wear pink, lavender, yellow and other colors that some deem to be "womenly colors." It is so ironic as well that this guy walked into a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Queer studies class wearing these shoelaces as well. Got to love stereotypes.
