Just Plain Ugly

Is it necessary for people to wear ugly snow boots? NO! There are adorable snow shoes in every store that will look cute no matter what. Some people feel the need that because the weather is ugly, they have to look ugly. There is NO EXCUSE!!! Go out and buy some cute water/snow protective shoes and wear them in style. Bad weather does not mean you need to look like an old grandma. Spice up the boots. Tuck in your jeans or sweats into the bottom. But no matter what never wear those big puffy ones that our friend Napoleon Dynamite wore! ~kmf

I mean no offense, but I do have to disagree with you here. Those snow boots posted are not ugly. Most likely they're used out on the slopes where high heels and worries of fashion are left behind. They have a good looking tread on the bottom and easy to get on with gloves. On the other hand (or foot) I'm fully aware my boots are not the most fashionable... they were $20 from Payless. So why should anyone care what they look like if they get the job done? Why do you care if some one wears those navy blue and black boots? And so what if Brittney Spears shaves her head right before rehab? Maybe she did it to feel like she was starting over or to focus more on the issues going on inside than outside? Yes, the way you present yourself is important - showing up to the office in sweats is not acceptable (unless you’re at Google perhaps), but when a person is dressed in brand name clothing everyday, it makes me wonder what she are her priorities or values in life.

I will agree with cms that I don’t care for those Ugg boots, but if your feet were in “Podiatric paradise” (along with those crocs) why not be comfortable in what you’re wearing. Kmf mentions people are afraid of wearing high heels here in the Midwest. Might I suggest it’s called common sense, as well as comfort? When it’s snowing or icy one doesn’t normally wear high heels. You can easily slip and land you on your ass, twist an ankle, or ruin your heels with salt. Shoot, can you explain why last night people were wearing high heels and skirts to go party in an ICE STORM. Does that make sense? Check out http://health.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=113388 to get a better idea on how heels can damage your feet too. If you want to ruin your feet so potentially you’re stuck in a wheelchair (like some of my patients at the hospital) that’s part of your personal style and how you want to look. But what I'm getting from your posts is that you place a LOT of value on fashion. So can I seriously ask why do you feel the need to buy what's "in" to be noticed or feel "important" when you're beautiful without all of that? -Sara
